The 2014 Recovery of the Year award is launched!
This year’s Tow Show is now under 100 days away and we are inviting entries for our Recovery of the Year competition in association with the AA. The inaugural winner of the award was Tears Recovery of Spalding in Lincolnshire.
Robert Tear was on stage to receive the award from Duncan MacRae of the AA. The judges had to choose between several high-profile entries and it took five hours to reach their decision such was the quality on offer.
Dave Gregory, chairman of the judges and editor of Professional Recovery magazine said: “Last year was a first for the Recovery of the Year award but when we announced the winner at the Gala Charity Dinner you could hear a pin drop, such was the anticipation. That is the quietest that I have ever seen 400 recovery operators!”
The good news is that the AA has agreed once again to sponsor the award and Duncan MacRae told Professional Recovery magazine:
“The AA are delighted to be once again associated with this prestigious award. We look forward to seeing the quality of entries and skills come to the fore. Judging by last year’s entries we should be in for a real treat.”
We are now asking recovery operators, large and small to send in their entries for the Recovery of the Year award for 2014.
A panel of judges will meet a few weeks before the show and decide on the winner. The judges will be completely independent and it will not necessarily be the biggest recovery that wins and you do not have to work for any particular work provider – this competition is completely independent. The judges will take into consideration all elements of the job including the difficulty of the terrain, the type of equipment used and the unique skills that separate it from all the rest of the competition.
The winner and a guest will be invited to the show as our guests and receive their award on the stage at the Gala Charity Dinner. This is a much-coveted award and many operators told me on the night of the Dinner that they wished they had entered. This is your chance and you will have up until Thursday 14 August 2014 to submit you entry. Entries can be by email of post.
We will need as much evidence (including photographs) as possible including a full description of the recovery, vehicles and special equipment used, risk assessment, manpower etc.
If you have a recovery that you feel is worthy of the award, please send it to:
