HGV mileage goes down

Dave Gregory

HGV traffic declined by 2.9% from 2010 to 15.9 billion vehicle miles according to figures produced by the DfT. Traffic levels for HGVs have fallen by 8.8% since 2001.
These figures come from the Department for Transport, and fit in with the report carried in the bulletin in June saying that the number of licensed heavy goods vehicles decreased by 1.25% between the first three months of 2011 and the same period in 2012.

The drop in mileage by HGV’s is yet another indicator in the reduction in levels of traffic and the subsequent drop in demand for recovery.
