Ontime wins ETA contract
Ontime Automotive’s Fleet Assistance Division has won a contract with breakdown recovery specialist ETA Services Ltd, supporting the operational use and maintenance of 187 on-street electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in London and across Greater London.
Operating a 24/7 rapid response service, Ontime’s team of highly trained technicians will attend to EV drivers who experience technical difficulties when using the charging points, isolating vehicles by disconnecting the electricity supply while also ensuring the charging points are made safe if damaged.
A liveried, high performance Kawasaki motor cycle – a recent addition to Ontime’s fleet – will be used to gain easy access to the charging infrastructure, meeting and exceeding expected arrival times in providing rapid response and assistance without being hindered by other traffic.
The 1400cc, 155 bhp Kawasaki is equipped with a top-of-the-range Garmin SatNav and communication system allowing bluetooth navigation with audio directions received in the rider’s earpiece.
As well as being qualified to diagnose faults on electrical infrastructure, Ontime’s patrol has what it takes to handle such a high spec machine, having passed the IAM Advanced Rider course.
Derek Firminger, Ontime’s Operations Director, commented “As demands for more sustainable mobility increase and electric and hybrid vehicles become ever more popular, the methods in roadside assistance will need to evolve and I’m pleased to say that Ontime is leading from the front in developing our skill sets and extensive infrastructure to embrace change.
“Our relationship with the ETA is another example of a major initiative that Ontime is committed to in supporting progressive policies for the environment and delivering outstanding value for our customers.”
